Obituary for Henry "Hank" James ROHLFS Sr.

Henry "Hank" James ROHLFS Sr.
Henry “Hank” James Rohlfs, 81, passed peacefully February 2, at Havasu Regional Medical Center while being comforted by the talented doctors and nurses in ICU. Born in Jersey City, NJ, on July 15, 1930, to Jacob and Elizabeth (Monahan) Rohlfs, Hank attended Catholic school, graduating from St. Peter’s Jesuit High School. He enlisted in the Army, later changing services to the Air Force, where he courted his wife of 59 years, Marion Constance (Kalasinskas) Rohlfs.

While serving in Korea as a company clerk, Hank and Marion bore
Mary Constance. When Hank’s honorable service in Korea ended, they moved from Florida to Oakland, CA. Here, Henry, Michael, and Elizabeth were born. Soon after, the family moved to Pleasant Hill, CA, where they lived for 25 years. Hank was an accomplished manager for Alamo Lumber, and Reynolds & Reynolds, from which he retired. In 1994, Henry and Marion moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Hank was generous with his time and talents, volunteering at local parishes and societies, as a lector and with St. Vincent DePaul. He was active in his support of Elizabeth’s schools for disabled and special needs children, while raising his own.

Hank was attended for 16 years by Dr. Wrona, and for several years by his visiting home nurse, Joan McBride.

Hank, a skillful cook, passed his talents to his surviving children, Mary, Henry, and Michael, and their children: Helen (Adam); Lukas (Leah); Kristen (Byron), Stephanie, Bradley (deceased), and Andrew; Brianna, Tristan (Ali), and Brandon; great grandchildren Abigail, Joshua, and Darien.

Services will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Hank and Elizabeth’s name to New Horizons Center, 2045 Moyo Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
