Obituary for Michael Leroy Riddle

MICHAEL LEROY RIDDLE
October 9, 1935 - October 15, 2013
He was a man of many words, so we will let him tell you himself. The following was written when he was first diagnosed with cancer.
“About Me”
“(And it is all about me)”
“I am 77 years old, fairly fit. I am a certified technical S.C.U.B.A. diver, a semi-retired rock climber and a backpacker. My Academic Background; B.A. degree in Experimental Psychology at The University of Texas Arlington 1967, Graduate work in Psychological Anthropology, theories of mind affecting the cultural evolution of consciousness. My work background; I was a part time Executive Director of the Lake Havasu City Museum of History. He was U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. I have held various leadership positions in a variety of industries and non-profits. Lorrie and I spent an exciting 4 years volunteering as International Executives for Episcopal marriage Encounter. I am a volunteer Archeologist in Historic Preservation work with the B.L.M. which in a large part was spent in the restoration of the Swansea Mining Ghost Town. I spent Five years teaching at Mohave Community College. Anthropology, Archeology and Southwest studies.
My spiritual home is within the doors of Grace Episcopal Church. It is a place of prayer and praise, they not only talk the talk but walk the walk as well, kind, caring and prayerful people, they are my spiritual strength.
He also wrote…..
“Most of all; Lorrie, my wife, friend and companion of 57 years. In adventures great and small. A gentle and soaring spirit blessed with enormous care, compassion and healing strength by our creator.”
Mike had a passion for learning and once hooked on a subject he would not back down, whether it was sailing, S.C.U.B.A. diving, archeology, teaching, writing etc… He would attack it.
Some of his favorite sayings:
“The two most important times in your life are: the day you are born and the day you find out way” - Mark Twain.
“You only go around once in life, if you do it right, once is enough” - Unknown Comic
Mike leaves behind his wife Lorrie, son Patrick (and wife Debbie), and grandchildren, Nathan, Keyerra, Ashley, Taylor and Dustin. He joins his son Kelly, and parents Ellie and Harley in heaven.
Memorial services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on October 25, 2013 at 4:00 PM
