Obituary for Robert Lee Rountree Sr.

Our father, brother, uncle, Robert (Bob) L. Rountree, born in East St. Louis, Illinois, on September 21, 1940, soared to his freedom in the heavens to be with his son, brother, and mother on January 14, 2014. He died peacefully, sounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Miles and Tami McCauley; his grandchildren, Katrina Anderson, Robert Sanders, Samual McCauley, and Faith McCauley; six great grandchildren; bothers, Ron Rountree (Petal), Jim Renshaw (Nancy), Duane Renshaw (Linda); and nephews, Bill Rountree, Anne Borren, Jeremy Renshaw, and Autumn Renshaw. He is also survived by brothers-of-the-heart John Shelstad and Lannie Allmaras, and many other friends in Boise, Idaho and Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He loved and cherished all his family and friends. Bob was the ultimate gentleman, reknowned for his hospitality and generosity. Bob joined the Air Force in 1958, was a medical Technician and was honorably discharged in 1962. He became a pilot in 1962 and continued his career in aviation until he retired as a Federal Aviation Agency Inspector Pilot. He flew all airplances and was qualified in helicoptors as well. During his career he also flew on forest fires, range fires, was a CW-2 Chief Warrant Officer and flew in the National Guard. He was most happy when he was flying, sailing, or spending time with loved ones. Friends and family are invited to a final gathering in his memory at his home at 1pm on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Military Honors Ceremony will take place at 3pm.
