Obituary for Bernadine Cooper Bibby (Cooper)

Bernadine Bibby, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Havasu City, Tuesday, January 14, 2014. She was born November 22, 1922 in Philomath, Oregon, to Luella (Wariner) and Jefferson Davis Cooper.

She worked at Benton County State Bank in Corvallis, Oregon, before marrying Raymond in Salem, Oregon on April 2, 1946. Together they farmed in Marion County, Oregon, for 2 years. They homesteaded in Tulelake, California, and farmed for 9 years and in 1958 traded for land in the Wellton-Mohawk Irrigation District in East Yuma County, Arizona, where they farmed until 1978 when they retired to Lake Havasu City. Bernadine was an active member of the Gleaners at the Mohawk Valley Presbyterian Church in Roll, Arizona, and the Lake Havasu Community Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, an elder, and was named Presbyterian Woman of the Year.

Bernadine is survived by her thankful and loving family; son Duane (Jeanette) Bibby of Fortuna, California and Lake Havasu City; daughters Laura (Dave) Fremder of Garland, Texas and Anita Simpson of Lake Havasu City; 5 grandchildren, Joel Fremder, Kevin Fremder, Jayson Simpson, Eden (John) Simpson, and Leslie (John) Melies; 7 great-grandchildren, Megan Covin, Sarah and Audrey Fremder, Jack, Sam, Max, and Jay Simpson. Preceding her in death was her husband and best friend of 62 years, Raymond.

Funeral Services will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home, 21 Riviera Blvd., Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86403, in the Chapel on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM with the Reverend David Bybee offering words of comfort. She then will be laid to rest at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
