Obituary for Donald Emerson Garner

DONAL EMERSON GARNER

Husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Don passed away January 19, 2014 and is now at home in the arms of the Lord with his precious Betty.

Don was born in Kokomo, Indiana to Russell and June Garner. The family moved to California when Don was 6 years old where he attended school ending with graduation from USC school of Dentistry.

Don served in World War II with the US Navy as a Dentist. He married the love of his life Elizabeth Allin in 1943. They made their life together in Pasadena where he opened his Dental practice. He served as President of the Southern California Dental Society for two terms. Don practiced for 46 years before retiring to Lake Havasu City in 1993. He was active in conservative politics as well as his church.


His passion besides his family and patients was fishing. He loved going to his beloved Sierras to fly fish.

Don is survived by his daughter, Laura Garner (John Ruggiero) of Lake Havasu City, AZ; sons, Craig Garner (Annie) of New London, CT and Todd Garner (Angela) of Glasgow, Scotland, U.K. ; grandchildren, Hannah Wilkins, Kacy Wilkins, Jacob Zirwas and Sarah Honsaker. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and June Garner, brother, James Garner and sister, Nancy Earl.


Services and burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena, California on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Military Honors will be rendered.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Havasu, 365 S. Lake Havasu Avenue, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.
