Obituary for Elmer Eugene Robinson

ELMER EUGENE (GENE) ROBINSON



Elmer Eugene Robinson passed away on June 2, 2014 in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the age of 82. He was born on April 17, 1932 in Moultry County, IL to Elmer and Helen (Hood) Robinson. Gene as he was known to family and friends was raised by his Great Uncle and Aunt, Earl and Lilly (Collins) Foreman of Pierson Station, IL.

Gene graduated from Atwood High School in 1950, joining the USAF in 1951 as an engine mechanic and was stationed in Korea. In 1954 he went to work at USI in Tuscola, IL for 16 years. He married Karen Mayfield in May of 1955 and started a family. Gene moved to Urbana, IL and went to work at Cunningham Children’s Home until he retired in 1995, moving to Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Gene joined the Masonic Lodge of Atwood in 1958, becoming a Knight Templer, York Right Bodies, Scottish Rights, Valley of Bloomington at Champaign Concistory, 32 degree Mason and is a life member. He was accepted into Shrine Club in 1968 belonging to ANSAR Shrine Club in Springfield, IL. He is also a life member of Moose Lodge, VFW Post and American Legion. In Lake Havasu he was a member of the Shrine Club, Eagles and Elks Lodges.

Gene is survived by his daughters Dawna Ulbricht and Michelle(Jimmy) Steven in Tuscola, IL; sister Sue Roberts of Harrisburg, IL; granddaughters Vernita Spry, Katy (D.J.) Hart and Sara Foster all of Atwood, IL; 5 great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, step parents, step brother Curtis Foreman, sisters Vona Bernard, Eileen Ellis, Bonnie Souvers, Leona Cook, brother Forest Foreman, son in law Michael Ulbricht and grandson in law Charles Spry.

A special recognition to cousin John Foreman of Champaign, IL and a very special thank you to cousins Frank and Dot Thompson and longtime friend Donna Cataldo all of Lake Havasu City.

Graveside services will be held at Mackville Cemetery in Atwood, IL on July 1 2014 at 1:00 PM.
